Why Consider Me?

Why should you consider me?

I’ve been where you are, I’ve been where you want to go, and I’ve traveled the road in between.

Many CFOs specialize in a certain type or size of company, and often in a certain industry.  That’s great if your company is that specific size and type, and in that industry…and if you’re always going to stay that way.

Compare that to my experience.  I’ve provided financial stewardship, strategic guidance and executive coaching to companies in the following categories

  • Size: from pre-revenue start-ups to multi-billion dollar companies
  • Industries: > 20, including E-commerce, SAAS, professional services (full list here)
  • Structure: Sole Proprietor, LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Family-owned, Publicly Traded
  • Growth:
    • Publicly traded company from $7MM to $1.3 B in 2 years
    • Publicly traded company from $3MM to $90M in 1 year
    • Privately owned company $14MM to $85MM in 2 years
    • Performed due diligence and integration of >120 acquisitions

I want to help companies achieve extraordinary things

My passion is to help ethical, passionate, hard-working people shake up the world (or at least their part of it). I’m always looking to find and maximize value. And that extends to the value I’ve built in my own knowledge, experience and abilities.  Because time is finite, I’m interested in using it as best as possible.  I’m NOT the guy you want to hire just to “keep the wheels on.”

I challenge limits

Some of the growth I’ve helped to achieve has arguably been extraordinary.  And one of the primary ingredients necessary for such growth is the belief that you can.  I work with companies to challenge the status quo and question what is possible.  Then I help to construct a plan that balances growth with responsible risk management.

I work to make myself obsolete

Much of what I do in the areas of strategic advisory services and coaching is “teaching someone to fish.”  I always try to add more value than just the answer to a specific issue.  I want to pass on the knowledge I’ve accumulated so that the company, and management, becomes more self-sufficient.  Further, as the company begins to realize the benefits of my services, they often grow to the point where a full time CFO is needed.  In those cases I help find, vet and onboard the new CFO.  I then usually continue to work with the company at a strategic level.
